SEQUÍA

SEQUÍA

la tierra arrugada, las plantas piden agua
el sol, abrasador, agrieta la montaña
lenguas sacadas, hojas marchitadas
pastos amarillos, solo polvo en los ríos
el viento; corrientes, de aire caliente
siroco, sequía, siroco, sequía
el cielo sin nubes, arboles azules
que sudan aceite, que sudan aceite

the sun is rising, shining
and climbing up and flying
and crying out and drying
and blinding like a bone

the heat is on the forest
the leaves are turning orange
and curling up and folding
and crumbling like a stone

the grass is crisp and yellow
the roots are dead and hollow
the valley in the shadow
a puddle of bubbling foam

DROUGHT

parched earth; the plants cry out for water
the scorching sun cracks the mountain
tongues are hanging, leaves are withered
yellow fields; nothing but dust in the rivers
the wind; currents of hot air
sirocco, drought, sirocco, drought
the cloudless sky, the blue trees
are sweating oil, are sweating oil

El sol sale, brillando
y asciende y vuela
y clama y seca
y deslumbra como un hueso

El calor se cierne sobre el bosque
las hojas se tiñen de naranja
y se rizan y se pliegan
y se desmoronan como una piedra

La hierba está seca y amarilla
las raíces están muertas y huecas
el valle en la sombra
un charco de espuma burbujeante

en el mundo inmenso un profundo silencio
salta una chispa de un motociclista

arden los árboles buscando amores

…fuego…

FIRE

night falls, enveloping the forest
in the vast world reigns a deep silence
a spark flies off from a motorcyclist

…fire…

the flames dance from branch to branch
the trees burn, searching for love
the sky burns, burns, burns

…fire…

BROTES

BROTES

SPROUTS

the ground; black, and black; the sky
in the mud; iron, calcium, and magnesium
and phosphorus, and potassium, and sodium, and silica
a layer of ash, and beneath it; the seed
a droplet touches it, it bursts, and sprouts

from the ash, life is reborn and…

drink water, water baby, it’s time to be born
drink water, water baby, it’s time to grow

BURNING HOT COFFEE

BURNING HOT COFFEE

when i wake up

going where we never been before

CAFÉ ARDIENDO

cuando me despierto
en el lado bueno de mi cama
en el lado bueno de mi cama
en el lado bueno de mi cabeza
recuerdo
las cosas malas que dijiste
las cosas malas que dijiste
las cosas malas en mi cabeza
y una sonrisa rompe mi cara

cuando me despierto
en el lado malo de mi cama
en el lado malo de mi cama
en el lado malo de mi cabeza
recuerdo

A SWAN

A SWAN

A swan come down
and talk to me

large wings of glassy marble
blinding with a riverwet dress
across the morning waters
from in the dawn white mist

A swan come down
and talk to me

in the middle of a bustling market
cold wind was blowing in the air
buying a hoodie from a gypsy
gold earrings coal black hair

A song come down
and swallow me

flying through rain like a seagull
moroccan sea citadel
the dust is beat by droplets
rivulets run down to the well

let it come down
and cover me

UN CISNE

baja un cisne
y me habla

y me habla

y me traga

volando entre la lluvia como una gaviota
ciudadela marinera marroquí
el polvo es azotado por las gotas
y los riachuelos bajan hasta el pozo

déjalo bajar
y cúbreme

MOUNTAIN SEA & DESERT TREE

MOUNTAIN SEA & DESERT TREE

my love lives over the mountain
my love lives over the sea
my love lives over the desert
my love lives over the tree

my love means nothing to the mountain
my love means nothing to the sea
my love means nothing to the desert
my love means nothing to the tree

POISON

POISON

i was uptown drinking poison
on a wednesday afternoon
a bar that let the girls and boys in
a band that played those golden tunes

the girls were fine the boys were charming
we bumbled round the dark dancefloor
the last police car passed alarming
at the bar we ordered more

catching eyes on the horizon
of the loud and floating room
going out to smoke some poison
under hundred streetlamp moons

the night was live it wrapped around us
played guitar for an hour or two
a guy from mali tried to drown us
with his painfelt drunken tune

we got home in rags and tatters
poison in our breath and hair
we held on to all that matters
in the blue and yellow air

my mate xesc called me on thursday
said that sami had lost his phone
i was sure i gave it to him
just before we taxied home

i was late for work that next morning
i had poison in my lung
the computer was so boring
i had a green and furry tongue

i went drinking poison with them
boys and girls who are my friends
yes we drank a lot of poison
drinking poison till the end

i see my darling by the water
flowing clothes and curly hair
close my eyes and flow towards her
leave behind my body there

VENENO

saliendo a fumar veneno

SNOW

SNOW

we met in madrid
then you departed
if this is love, does it get easier?

but you came back again
to north west winter spain
deep in the rain of galicia

beings born of dust rise up all around you
fragile and alive, they stand their ground around you
fighting to survive in this land of destruction

my utterances are breathless and invisible
trying with my mind to make them visceral
but it took my being apart from you to write you this lovesong

when she’s with me, she is the rhythm (nanana)
when she blesses me i’m forgiven (nanana)
and the ocean wide is in her ocean eyes
and in the morning when we rise i sink and i swim

where do you go?
child of the snow
watching the glow of the day begin

where are you now?
wandering soul
haunting the whole of my world within

when she’s with me, she is the rhythm (nanana)
when she blesses me i’m forgiven (nanana)
when i touch her i know i’m feeling (nanana)
and when she touches me i know i’m healing (nanana)
when i smell her, i know i’m breathing (nanana)
when i have her i feel i’m stealing (nanana)
all the fire flies in her tired eyes
and in the morning when we rise ill see her again

NIEVE

y a dónde vas?
niña de la nieve
mirando el resplandor del día comenzar

donde estas ahora?
alma errante

LIVER

LIVER

i love you with all of my life, my liver
i see you with cauliflower brain
your kidneys like 2 purple moons, croon
to the sound of your tiredness pain
your tongue is the carpet you walk upon
your teeth are pearly gates
your nose is a noise, i hear it
your eyes are ceramic blue plates
your fingers they dance to your diaphragm
your hips are the roll of the sea
your belly it wobbles like jelly with bubbles
your elephant spilling its troubles to me

i beg of me
release my soul
there is no need
for a stranglehold
i am an angel
i am a spirit
i am the ghost
who’s living with it
i am a god
i am a devil
i walk through hell
i walk through heaven
i beg of me
to set me free
from this body
who strangles me

ROLLER

ROLLER

i was rolling through the desert
like the shadow of the sun
waiting for the rains to come

cut down through the valley
like the river through the trees
lost like the old summer breeze

we go rumbling up the country
in a turbo-diesel van
there where the air meets the land

now i’m sailing over mountains
like an eagle in the wind
watching the ages spin

RODANTE

LIGHTNING SONG

LIGHTNING SONG

i was born, i did not decide
i was carried away from the light
i dug a hole into my soul
i was just born, but i did not decide

lightning striking close to my home
spilling and cracking my blood and my bones
old as the eye, these tunnels of light
driving and driving and driving through time

i died, i did not survive
i didn’t choose where to leave and arrive
all of my life i’ve been rolling away
into and out to the sea like the waves

CANCIÓN DEL RAYO

yo nací, y no lo decidí
me alejaron de la luz
excavé un agujero en mi alma
simplemente nací, pero no lo decidí

cayó un rayo cerca de mi casa
derramando y resquebrajando mi sangre y mis huesos

yo morí, y no sobreviví
no elegí donde irme y llegar
toda mi vida he estado rodando

BENIDORM TODAY

BENIDORM TODAY

well the sun drifts slowly over benidorm today
and clouds sail like little floating boats across the bay
and the seagulls wheeling, and screaming in the air
and i would like to leave but i’m not going anywhere

not today, not today, not today; in benidorm today

the sounds of the city rise up bubbling on the wind
coming gently through the windows of the apartment that i’m in
cars parking dogs barking kids are larking round
but now right now i’m not allowed to step upon the ground

not today, not today, not today; in benidorm today

cos a sweating shivering fever grips and holds me in my bed
and my sinuses are swelling up and strangling my head
then my tonsils flare and my mouth and throat are raw
and i can’t smell or taste a single flavour anymore

not today, not today, not today; in benidorm today

and the moon swings like a silver ball over the desert
where the wildcats howl and the cowboys live forever
and the spirit of the ghost rider inside me wants to roam
and take that dusty trail of the wagons to my home

not today, not today, not today; in benidorm today

BENIDORM HOY

DARK EYES (killing the horse cos the horse is mad)

DARK EYES (killing the horse cos the horse is mad)

dark eyes search for me
search for me when i am free
search for me when i am sad
killing the horse cos the horse is mad

search the stables, search the land
find him dancing on the sand
feed him apples from your hand
killing the horse cos the horse is mad

lead me gently to your home
lay my head down on a stone
not because i’m good or bad
killing the horse cos the horse is mad

dark eyes in my dream
drink the water from the stream
clean the wound with a bloody rag
killing the horse cos the horse is mad

condúceme dulcemente a tu casa

ST. CATHERINE

ST. CATHERINE

my love is so deep
yet so brittle and weak
i’m finding it hard to go on
my love is so deep
and so hard to keep
i’m finding it hard to go on
i’m finding hard, harder and stranger
i’m finding it hard to go on

carried away
by passion and pain
i lost the war again
tied to the wheel
wrapped in the flames
i lost the war again
i lost the war at 4 in the morning
what did you do today?

the garden of love
was filled with dead bodies
what did you do today?
the machine is rolling
crushing the forest
what did you do today?
i was a child, hungry and wild
and what did you do today?

my love is so deep
so buried in sleep
so soft and so peaceful and long
my love is so pure
and so hard to cure
so shy and so silent and strong
i’m torn by desire, by power and fire
and i’m finding it hard to go on

SANTA CATALINA

dejado llevar
por la pasión y el dolor
he vuelto a perder la guerra
atado a la rueda
envuelto en las llamas
he vuelto a perder la guerra
¿y tú qué has hecho hoy?

el jardín del amor
se llenó de cadáveres
¿tú qué has hecho hoy?
la máquina está rodando
aplastando el bosque
¿tú qué has hecho hoy?
yo era un niño, hambriento y salvaje
¿y tú qué has hecho hoy?

mi amor es tan profundo
tan enterrado en el sueño
tan suave y tan tranquilo y prolongado
mi amor es tan puro
y tan difícil de curar
tan tímido y silencioso y fuerte
me desgarra el deseo, el poder y el fuego
y me está costando continuar

ELLA

ELLA

SHE

she is walking down the street
she enters into the tangle of the big city
she is walking down the street
she searches between night and dawn

she is walking down the street
alone, she wants to find her destiny
she is walking with her own vibe
in her soul she carries a carnival

she is the rock of her crazy life
and all the colours she touches
and she is ready to take on the world
from the desert to the deepest sea

GRAVITY

GRAVITY

19:46 20/07/2021

gravitationally i’m yours
drift towards your open doors
feel it in my molten core
swirling centrifugal force

stranded on opposing shores
static storms and ocean roars
i can’t hear you any more
gravitationally i’m yours

and i’m sending you a kiss
on the blue lips of a fish
riding high on electricity
under the sea

train station corridors
just before the train withdraws
hearts are torn and on the floor
gravitationally i’m yours

train crawls off through the dawn
i can’t help my eyes are pouring
i can’t see you any more
gravitationally i’m yours

GRAVEDAD

–

gravitacionalmente soy tuyo
floto hacia tus puertas abiertas
lo siento en mi núcleo fundido
fuerza centrífuga arremolinada

varados en orillas opuestas
entre tormentas estáticas y rugidos oceánicos
ya no te puedo oír más
gravitacionalmente soy tuyo

gravitacionalmente soy tuyo

GOOD MORNING

GOOD MORNING (good mourning)

the fish from my dream swam away with the moon
left me here facing the sky
i couldn’t move, my whole body was bruised
i willingly lay down to die

i was a maiden my hands on the table
i sang just when i was alone
the sun is an angel that burns through the curtains
and gradually enters my home

good morning, good morning
good morning, good morning
yes its cold, its grey and its rainy
it’s a meaningless midweek morning

there were stars in the night well i know that for sure now
they melted and they fell to the floor
the mist in the trees, the cold in the corner
raindrops dribble down off the door

i’ve been a lover, i’ve carried my faith
like a puddle in the palm of my hand
and i’ve seen the smile return to your face
like sunlight poured over the land

good mourning, good mourning
good mourning, good mourning
yes its cold, its grey and its rainy
it’s a meaningless midweek morning

he visto la sonrisa volver a tu cara

buen luto, buen luto
buen luto, buen luto
si hace frio, es gris y llueve
es una mañana sin sentido entre semana

HIMALAYA

HIMALAYA

i am over 30
i don’t get my hands dirty
i live in the city
where i underlook the city
i have a job
it’s a hell of a job
it pays my bills
and kills…
after work i’m so tired
i can’t sleep, my brain is wired
there’s a buzzing in my ears
far away and getting near
the silence is deafening
my front door isn’t welcoming
i’m crawling to the tv
none of my friends are calling

i’m doing fine
doing time
struggling to sleep
pulling teeth
in my dreams
animals eat me

my flat is dark and eerie
my eyes are dull and bleary
i’m feeding on a series
of pixelated memories
sitting in a daze
with my senses frayed
i keep scrolling ~ through infinity
to see what good that does to me
background noise news feed
chews me and spits me out
glues me to the ceiling
gotta keep up with my feelings
zoned into that dark place
chained to the cave wall
plugged into the packet switching
chaos of the soul

i’m killing time
on my line
trying to read the mind
on the screen
colours stream
butterflies eat my eyes

HIMALAYA

tengo más de 30
no me mancho las manos
vivo en la ciudad
donde observo la ciudad
tengo un trabajo
es un trabajo de infierno
me paga mis gastos
y mata…
después de trabajar estoy tan cansado
no puedo dormir, mi cerebro sigue conectado

yo estoy bien
cumpliendo condena
luchando por dormir
arrancando dientes
en mis sueños
y los animales me comen

mi piso es oscuro e inquietante
mis ojos están apagados y sombríos
me alimento de una serie
de recuerdos pixelados
sentado en un mareo
con los sentidos destrozados
sigo desplazándome ~ por el infinito
para ver si me sirve de algo
el ruido de fondo de las noticias
me mastica y me escupe
me pega en el techo
me mantiene al día con mis sentimientos
atrapado en ese lugar oscuro
encadenado a la pared de la cueva
enchufado a la transferencia de paquetes
y el caos de mi alma

estoy matando el tiempo
conectado a mi línea
intentando leer la mente
en la pantalla
los colores fluyen
y las mariposas me comen los ojos

BLUES NOIR

BLUES NOIR

rain was falling on that fateful night
hiding tears from the curving light
of cars that swished sideways past your silhouette
not trying to remember
not trying to forget

one hand up, and one hand down
he looked at her and she looked at the ground
where the rain poured like jewellery on their shoes
if you don’t get her, you’ve got nothing
and nothing to lose

transport came and you turned to me;
recognised my presence at last and formally
y’ said goodbye; a word which hurt me to my bones
the moments when i’m with you
are the times that i feel most alone

AZUL NOIR

DRUGS

DRUGS

i was tired and struggling on my feet
the sounds of the system sifted through the trees
i left my bag of apples by the door
i couldn’t seem to wait there any more

i got out and wandered up the road
i heard my shoe souls slapping on the stones
but i could feel my body drifting off
the half of me is vanishing and soft

i have a feeling of flying under the ocean
feel the shatter of the thundering stars break over me
i saw the 3/4ths yellow moon floating in the river
and the ripples of the curling stream couldn’t wash it away

i was brought by the rain to the earth from somewhere other
i don’t know where or when but it somehow seemed to me
i travelled down a silver cord to the womb of my mother
and i came to manifest this physical reality

come on, down, dance, to the revolution
come one, come in, rock out, join the revolution
step in, step out, laugh, get the cool shoeshine
hold hands, break dance, trance, do the revolution

i dreamed of her and i dreamed of earth together
a tunnel of shining fires that lit the way
my weightless mind is a champion of the future
and i sacrifice my future for the day

hold up, make friends, believe, be the evolution
let go, relax, breathe, see the revolution

DROGAS

the revolution is turning your head; nodding your head; shaking your head. the revolution is the latest dance and a bold new classic. the revolution is the soft acceleration of an engine. the revolution is overturning the government and flipping a pancake. the revolution is being drunk on drugs, and watching your vision spin circles around your head, and then watching your head spin circles around the room. the revolution is the rolling of eyes. the revolution is televised, advertised and advised. the revolution is a perfect perfume; a vanished stain, an ice-cold spirit. the revolution is the only constant, the hurled consonant, the revolution is content and revolting. the revolution is a public disgrace and a private endeavour. the revolution is a new prophet and a hired gun. the revolution is a squabbling pen and a stolen melody. the revolution is a threat to sexuality. the revolution is radical and racial and rooted. the revolution begins in retirement homes and hospitals. the revolution is a fashion statement and a modern menu. the revolution is the circulation of blood and the flow of energy. the revolution is the dancing triskele of earth and sun and moon. the revolution is time and herbalism. the revolution is the folding of life into death. the revolution is a womb, a woman, a man alive. the revolution is ovarian and ovular and orbital. the revolution is lunatic and elliptical. the revolution is callipygous and rogue. the revolution is barrel-chested and coy. the revolution is solar-powered, plant-based, bespectacled and mad. the revolution is the circling of the screw, and the midnight rotation of apples…

MIRROR

MIRROR

the man he wants to kill me
wants me in the ground
sees me hanging on the wall
and wants to pull me down

the cold cold wind she sings about me
the cold light splashes on the sea
i see a shimmer of the mirror man
the enemy in me

snowclouds darken my horizon
behind me lies an empty track
but i can feel the smiling blades
come crawling up my back

wolf runs down off the mountain
moon eye watching through the trees
i can feel the loving chill
as she comes out to me

the man wants to kill me
wants me buried in the dust
he sees a shimmer of the mirror man
a thing he just can’t trust

ESPEJO

el hombre me quiere matar
me quiere bajo tierra
me ve colgado en la pared
y me quiere tirar abajo

BLACK SHEEP MOAN

BLACK SHEEP MOAN

black sheep; black sheep moan
drinking bottles on my own

standing in a long grey cloud
rainy weather brings me down

weary yellow eyes
drawing circles on your thighs

black sheep; black sheep moan
standing on that hill

GEMIDO DE OVEJA NEGRO

oveja negra; gemido de oveja negra
bebiendo botellas a solas

parado en una larga nube gris
el tiempo lluvioso me deprime

ojos amarillos cansados
dibujando círculos en tus muslos

oveja negra; oveja negra gime
parado en aquella colina

PEQUEÑO HURACÁN

PEQUEÑO HURACÁN

huracán
pequeño huracán

down in the valley
early morn
standing around
under forming storm

i couldn’t sleep at all
staring at the wall
lost in the beck and call
of all the animals

TINY HURRICANE

hurricane
tiny hurricane
hurricane
tiny hurricane
tiny hurricane
tiny hurricane

hurricane
tiny hurricane
hurricane
tiny hurricane
tiny hurricane
tiny hurricane

en el valle
por la madrugada
parados
bajo una naciente tormenta

no he podido dormir
mirando la pared
perdido en las llamadas
de los animales

TRAIN

TRAIN

-can you hear that train?
it’s coming straight down the tunnel
like a bullet in a barrel
-can you hear that train?

i gots a fat controller
standing over my shoulder
and he wants to see my ticket
and i tell him it explode

cutting through the drizzle
like a japanese chisel
screaming like the whistle
on the nose of a missile

boiling like a kettle
sliding over metal
don’t take your foot off of
dead man’s pedal

see it coming round the mountain
with its pistons pounding
and the system is announcing
the train that i’ll be mounting

passenger train, passenger train
i’m singing this old refrain again
rolling softly through the rain
pulling people through your veins

old tank engine, old tank engine
tonic and gin in your engine
leaving for your destination
you hit the straight and gain momentum

there’s nobody waiting for me in the end
there’s nobody waiting for me in the end

TREN

puedes oír el tren?
viene por el túnel
como una bala por un barril
puedes oír el tren?

tengo un controlador gordo
pegado a mi espalda
y quiere ver mi billete
y le digo que explota

cortando la llovizna
como un cincel japonés
gritando como el silbato
en el morro de un misil

hirviendo como una tetera
resbalando sobre el metal
no quites el pie
del pedal de hombre muerto

míralo rodear la montaña
con sus pistones retumbando
y el sistema anunciando
el tren en el que voy a montar

tren de pasajeros, tren de pasajeros
estoy cantando este viejo estribillo otra vez
rodando suavemente bajo la lluvia
tirando a la gente por tus venas

vieja locomotora, vieja locomotora
tónica y ginebra en tu motor
partiendo hacia tu destino
llegas a la recta y agarras velocidad

no hay nadie esperándome al final
no hay nadie esperándome al final

NO FEELINGS + LITTLE FISH

NO FEELINGS + LITTLE FISH

i don’t want no feelings to be dealing with tomorrow
gotta get it off my chest before i go to rest
i don’t want no feelings to be dealing with tomorrow
gotta get it out my head before i go to bed

little fish, do you know what water is?
little fish, do you know what water is?

i don’t want no feelings to be dealing with tomorrow
gotta get it out my face so that i rest my case
i don’t want no feelings to be dealing with tomorrow
gotta rip it out my throat so that i stay afloat

little fish, do you know what water is?
little fish, do you know what water is?

i don’t want no feelings…

no quiero sentimientos…

HIMALAYA 2

  1. Himalaya 2

traffic island castaway
skies are overcast and grey
powering down these city streets
with buildings towering into me
pushing through the smoke and wind
feel their stories in my skin
an endless stream of slick machines
    threatens and discomforts me
sun goes down and i’m so tired
i can’t sleep, my brain is wired
there’s a buzzing in my ears
far away and getting near
    the silence is deafening
    my front door isn’t welcoming
    i’m crawling to the tv
none of my friends are calling

  i’m doing fine
        doing time
        struggling to sleep
        pulling teeth
        in my dreams
        animals eat me

my flat is dark and eerie
my eyes are dull and bleary
i’m feeding on a series
of pixelated memories
    sitting in a daze
    with my senses frayed
i keep scrolling ~ through infinity
to see what good that does to me
background noise news feed
chews me and spits me out
glues me to the ceiling
gotta keep up with my feelings
    zoned into that dark place
    chained to the cave wall
    plugged into the packet switching
    chaos of the soul

i’m killing time
        on my line
        trying to read the mind
        on the screen
        colours stream
        butterflies eat my eyes

  1. Himalaya 2

   me amenaza y me inquieta

yo estoy bien
      cumpliendo condena
      luchando por dormir
      sacándome muelas
      en mis sueños
      los animales me devoran

mi piso está oscuro y da miedo
tengo la mirada apagada y nublada
me alimento de una serie
de recuerdos pixelados
   sentado aturdido
con los sentidos a flor de piel
   sigo escroleando ~ el infinito
a ver de qué me sirve
el ruido de las noticias de fondo
me mastica y me escupe
me deja pegado al techo
y me saca de mis sentimientos
   absorto en ese lugar oscuro
encadenado a la pared de la cueva
conectado a la conmutación de paquetes
   el caos del alma

estoy matando el tiempo
      en la línea
      intentando leer la mente
      en la pantalla
      los colores fluyen
las mariposas se comen mis ojos

OLD STONY ROAD

  1. Old Stony Road

old stony road
old crooked lane
old dancing moon
old singing rain
old sinking sun
old hissing flame
old kissing moon
old fucking rain

old whistling winds
in the crumbling sky
i find my house
and i stumble inside
old tilted floor
old ancient grain
old silent moon
old rattling rain

~ daytime
coming over the skyline
rising out of the treeline,
coming down here and
that’s what’s coming to me

~ daylight
coming down through the skylight
burning up in my eyesight
coming down here and
that’s what’s coming to me, coming to me

the candle stands
by the window pane
old listening moon
old whispering rain
through purple clouds
she swims and sails
old rocky moon
old sodium tail

and o my love
she calls my name
old smiling moon
old laughing rain
but she’s the love
i can’t contain
old smiling moon
old laughing rain

~ daytime
coming over the skyline
rising out of the treeline
coming down here and
that’s what’s coming to me

~ daylight
coming down through the skylight
burning up in my eyesight
coming down here and
that’s what’s coming to me, coming to me

  1. Viejo Camino de Piedra

viejo camino de piedra
viejo sendero sinuoso
vieja luna danzante
vieja lluvia cantarina
viejo sol que se hunde
vieja llama siseante
vieja luna besadora
vieja lluvia jodida

viejos vientos silbantes
en el cielo desmoronado
encuentro mi casa
y entro a trompicones
viejo suelo inclinado
grano antiguo
vieja luna silenciosa
vieja lluvia traqueteante

SPIDERS

  1. Spiders

when i was younger
i had it easy
when i had troubles
i’d go down to the trees and i’d
speak with the angels
the witches and spirits
my soul they lifted
my tales they twisted and
i spent hours
in those wooden towers
thinking and dreaming
and waiting for something but
but you and i have seen through that
we’ve heard of every history
every myth and mystery
is caught in woven tapestries
so clear to see…

voices whisper
through the trees
it’s time to go back home
it’s time to leave so i
i wonder slowly up
lonely wooded highways
where ghosts of the future
are blazing in the driveways
threads of silver
cross the path
they touch my face
and they fall apart and i
i see the house up there
the light on in the kitchen
a sudden sadness
of something i’m missing
so near to me…

i hold on
to everything that makes me strong
and above where i sleep
these spiders they creep
weaving the morning

falling shadows
cross my mind
they leave me standing
here on the edge of time
outside is cold but
inside is colder
my heavy head
swings down from my shoulders
tiny spiders
on the wall
i give them names and i
i watch them crawl up
over the ceiling beams
spinning up a web of dreams
of vague realities
and solid memories
here to see…

i hold on
to everything that makes us strong
and above where we sleep
spiders they creep
weaving the morning

i hold on
to everywhere i’ve been and gone
like cobwebs that cling
to dust in the wind
gone with the morning

  1. Arañas

cuando era más joven
lo tenía fácil
si tenía problemas
bajaba a los árboles
y hablaba con los ángeles
las brujas y los espíritus
ellos elevaron mi alma y
retorcieron mis cuentos
pasaba horas
en esas torres de madera
pensando y soñando
y esperando algo pero
las piedras vivieron eso
vieron cada historia
cada mito y misterio
atrapados en tapices tejidos
y que son tan fáciles de ver…

voces susurran
a través de los árboles
es hora de volver a casa
es hora de marchar, así que
subo lentamente por
carreteras solitarias y boscosas
donde fantasmas del futuro
resplandecen en los portones
hilos de plata
atraviesan el camino
me tocan la cara
y caen y yo
veo la casa allí arriba
la luz de la cocina encendida
una tristeza repentina
de algo que me estoy perdiendo
y que está tan cerca de mí…

me aferro
a todo lo que hace fuerte
y sobre mi cama
unas arañas van trepando y
tejiendo la mañana

aparecen sombras
y nublan mi mente
me dejan parado
aquí al borde del tiempo
afuera hace frío pero
adentro hace más
mi cabeza pesada
cuelga de mis hombros
hay arañitas
en la pared
les pongo nombres y
las observo escalar
por las vigas del techo
tejiendo una red de sueños
de realidades vagas
y recuerdos sólidos
que se pueden ver…

me aferro
a todo lo que hace fuerte
y sobre nuestra cama
unas arañas van trepando y
tejiendo la mañana

me aferro
a todos los lugares donde he estado
como telarañas que se agarran
al polvo en el viento
y que se van con la mañana

RAINY TUESDAY

  1. Rainy Tuesday

it was a rainy tuesday
i was alone with you
just when i thought we’d spend some time together
you disappeared into your room

i set the fire burning
i let the dogs in the rain
i was feeling o so broken hearted
cos i didn’t hear you call my name,
o no you never even called my name

someday maybe one day
we will talk about how we feel
till then we’ll be ill when-
whenever we can’t say what’s real
and that’s alright

lunchtime came rolling forward
i heard my belly growl
now would you like some food i asked you sweetly
but you didn’t even make a sound
o no you didn’t even make a sound

someday maybe one day
we will talk about how we feel
till then we’ll be ill when
whenever we can’t say what’s real
inside ourselves

…

take a little walk round your hometown
there’s a lot of things that you will see
construction down in the valley
cameras sitting in the trees

did you see the deerhead in the meadow
it’s mind was spinning full of flies
saint john’s wort was in the hedgerow
i’m singing this sweetsong lullaby

  1. Martes Lluvioso

era un martes lluvioso
estaba a solas contigo

(DEATHBLOOM) THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO DIE

  1. (Deathbloom) this is what it feels like to die

*dear sangha, dear thay
i have 2 questions,
but they are about death
and the first is:
do you often think about death?
and the second is:
what do you think about it?

it is a subject of meditation
and the buddha said:
1 minute contemplating death
is very rewarding
because if you know what death is
you become more alive

this is what it feels like to die
this is what it feels like to die
this is what it feels like to die
this is what it feels like to die

this is what it’s like to survive
this is what it’s like to survive
this is what it’s like to survive
this is what it’s like to survive

*when i was a young person
i thought that:
when you are young and you are alive
why do you have to think about death?
that´s not very healthy
but later on i found out that
if you meditate on death, well
you cherish more LIFE

*querido sangha, querido thay
tengo 2 preguntas:
pero son sobre la muerte
y la primera es:
piensas amenudo en la
muerte?

LONG GOODBYE

  1. Long Goodbye

we drove one hundred miles just to say goodbye again
and while the windscreen wipers waved away the rain
we conversated on the sacred and mundane
at dawn the rainbow broke and let out all her pain

it’s fucking pouring down on this boring town today
i take a look around and both the streets and the sky are grey
i was there drawing symbols on the window pane
i turned to you with something that i had to say:

long long long, long long long long long goodbye

i was the forest in the mist
you were the cold mist in the forest
we lived for mystery and for rest
your mind and body will be missed

i held your heart inside my fist
i felt it beating when we kissed
i tasted tears upon your lips
i felt the quiver of your hips

long long long, long long long long long goodbye

because the cellos are jealous of our love
o yes the cellos are jealous of our love
o and the cellos are jealous of our love
because the cellos are jealous of our love

largo, largo, largo, largo, largo, largo, largo adiós

largo, largo, largo, largo, largo, largo, largo adiós

THE BEAST

  1. The Beast

i heard the clock tower strike
the town hall was on fire
there was an eagle in my eye
i had a weapon by my side

i heard the old man talking wise
like a whiplash in the sky
down in the creeping of the night, i was ready and down to fight
yes i was ready and down to fight

doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo
doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo doo…

there was a pounding in my heart
and the sweat rolled down my palms
and the air enveloped me
i let the darkness swallow me

there was a raging in my chest
it had the taste of angriness
there was a fire fire fire in my blood and bones
but i could not connect you cos i was not alone

i saw the beast – she looked a lot, a lot like me
down by the river, i sought to give her – freedom
i saw the beast – she looked a lot, a lot like me
i sought to give her peace and deliver – freedom

doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo
doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo doo…

down in the shadows i was found
and the waves they lay me down
they were as cold as happiness
this was the ending of my quest

behind the turn of every leaf
behind the burn of my belief
i caught the glimmer of a light
i saw the shimmer of my life

i saw the beast – she looked a lot, a lot like me
down by the river, i sought to give her – freedom
i saw the beast – she looked a lot, a lot like me
i sought to give her peace and deliver – freedom

…

in my skin
my soul does spin, i
learnt to forgive her, now
i travel with her

and in my soul
my emotions roll, she said:
watch them be seen, and
let them be

como un latigazo en el cielo;
estaba listo y dispuesto a luchar;
sí, estaba listo y dispuesto a luchar

doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo
doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo doo…

tenía sabor a ira

doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo
doo doo doodoo doodoo doodoo doo…

…

en mi piel,
mi alma da vueltas; he
aprendido a perdonarla, ahora
viajo con ella

y en mi alma,
mis emociones se agitan; ella dijo:
mira cómo se revelan, y
déjalas ser

LISBON

  1. LISBON

twas on one whitsun wednesday
on the fourteenth day of may
we untied our anchor
and so we sailed away
where the sun does shine most glorious
to lisbon we are bound
where the hills and fields are daintied
with pretty maidens round

i wrote a letter to sylvie
for she to understand
that i was going to leave her
unto some foreign land
she said: my dearest william
those words will break my heart
oh, let us be married
tonight before you start

for ten long weeks and better, love
i’ve been with child by thee
so stay at home, dear william
be kind and marry me
our captain has commanded us
and i shall have to go
for the queen’s in want of men, my love
and i dare not answer no

oh, i’ll cut off my yellow hair
men’s clothing i’ll put on
and i will go along with you
and be your waiting man
and when it is your watch on deck
your duty i will do
i’d face the field of battle, love
so i could be with you

your pretty little fingers
they are both long and small
your waist it is too slender
to face the cannon-ball
for the cannons loud do rattle
and the blazing bullets fly
and the silver trumpets they do sound
to drown the dismal cry

if i should meet a pretty girl
that’s proper tall and gay
if i should take a fancy to her
sylv, what would you say?
would you not be offended?
oh no, my lover true
i’d stand aside, sweet william
while she does pleasure you

pray do not talk of danger
for love is my desire
to see you in the battle
and with you spend my time
and i will travel france and spain
all for to be your bride
and within the field of battle
i will lay down by your side

  1. LISBOA

fue un miércoles de pentecostés
el catorce de mayo
cuando soltamos amarras
y zarpamos

oh, me cortaré mi cabello rubio

tus bonitos deditos
son largos y finos
tu cintura es demasiado delgada
para enfrentarse a las balas de cañón
porque los cañones retumban con fuerza
y las balas ardientes vuelan
y las trompetas plateadas suenan
para ahogar el lúgubre grito

si conociera a una chica bonita
que fuera alta y alegre
si me gustara
sylv, ¿qué dirías?
¿no te sentirías ofendida?
oh, no, mi verdadero amor
me haría a un lado, dulce William
mientras ella te complace

por favor, no hables de peligro
pues el amor es mi deseo
verte en la batalla
y pasar mi tiempo contigo
y viajaré por francia y españa
todo para ser tu esposa
y en el campo de batalla
me acostaré a tu lado

AS SYLVIE WAS WALKING

  1. AS SYLVIE WAS WALKING

as sylvie was walking down by the riverside
as sylvie was walking down by the riverside
and looking so sadly, and looking so sadly
and looking so sadly, upon its swift tide

she thought on the lover who left her in pride
she thought on the lover who left her in pride
on the banks of the meadow, on the banks of the meadow
on the banks of the meadow she sat down and cried

and as she sat weeping, a young man came by
and as she sat weeping, a young man came by
what ails you, my darling? what ails you, my darling?
what ails you, my darling and makes you to cry?

i once had a sweetheart, and now i have none
i once had a sweetheart, and now i have none
he’s a-gone, he’s a-leaved me, he’s gone, he’s deceived me
he’s gone, he’s a-leaved me in sorrow to mourn

one night in sweet slumber, i dream that i see
one night in sweet slumber, i dream that i see
my own dearest true love, my own dearest true love
my own dearest true love come smiling to me

but when i awoke and i found it not so
but when i awoke and i found it not so
mine eyes were like fountains, mine eyes were like fountains
mine eyes were like fountains where water doth flow

i’ll spread sail of silver and steer to the sun
i’ll spread sail of silver and steer to the sun
and my false love will weep, and my false love will weep
and my false love will weep for me after i’m gone

  1. MIENTRAS SYLVIE CAMINABA

a mi querido amor verdadero, a mi querido amor verdadero

ON SALISBURY PLAIN

  1. ON SALISBURY PLAIN

as i walked over salisbury plain
oh there i met a scamping young blade
he kissed me and enticed me so
till along with him; i was forced for to go
i was forced for to go

we came unto a public house at last
and there for man and wife we did pass
he called for ale and wine and strong beer
till at length we both to bed, to bed did repair
to bed did repair

undress yourself, my darling, says he
undress yourself, and come to bed with me
oh yes, that i will; then says she
if you’ll keep all those flash girls away from me
those flash girls away

those flash girls you need not fear
for you will be safe-guarded, my dear
i’ll maintain you as some lady so gay
for i’ll go a-robbing out on the highway
out on the highway

early next morning my love he arose
and so nimbly he put on his clothes
straight to the highway he set sail
and twas there he robbed the coaches,
he robbed the coaches of the mail

my love in newgate jail now does lie
expecting every moment to die
the lord have mercy on his poor soul
for i think i hear the death-bell, the death-bell for to toll

i think i hear the death-bell toll

  1. EN LA LLANURA DE SALISBURY

mientras caminaba por la llanura de salisbury
oh, allí conocí a un joven libertino
me besó y me sedujo tanto
me vi obligada a irme

esas chicas llamativas lejos

THE BURNING THAMES

  1. THE BURNING THAMES

well i must be going, no longer staying
the burning thames i have to cross
well i must be guided without a stumble
into the arms of my dear lass

when he came to his true love’s window
he knelt down gently on a stone
and it’s through a pane he whispered slowly
my dear girl, are you alone?

she rose her head from her down-soft pillow
and snowy were her milk-white breasts
saying: who’s there at my bedroom window
disturbing me from my long night’s rest?

oh, i’m your love and don’t discover
i pray you rise, love, and let me in
for i’m fatigued from my long night’s journey
besides, i am wet into the skin

now this young girl rose and put on her clothing
she quickly let her own true love in
oh they kissed, shook hands, and embraced together
till that long night was near an end

o willie dear, o dearest willie,
where is that colour you’d some time ago?
o sylvie dear, the clay has changed me
i’m but the ghost of your willie o

then it’s willie dear, o dearest willie
whenever shall i see you again?
when the fish they fly, love, and the sea runs dry, love
and the rocks they melt in the heat of the sun

oh, soy tu amor, no me descubras

oh, willie querido, oh, querido willie

entonces willie querido, oh, querido willie,
¿cuándo te volveré a ver?

THE GREEN GROVE

  1. BY THE GREEN GROVES

one may morning early i chanced for to roam
and i strolled through the field by the side of the grove
it was there i did hear the harmless birds sing
and you never heard so sweet, and you never heard so sweet
you never heard so sweet as the birds in the spring

at the end of the grove i sat myself down
and the song of the nightingale echoed all around
their song was so charming their notes were so clear
no music no songster, no music no songster
no music no songster can with them compare

all you that come here the small birds to hear
i’ll have you pay attention so pray all draw near
and when you’re growing old you will have this to say
that you never heard so sweet, you never heard so sweet
that you never heard so sweet as the birds on the spray

THE PLOUGHSHARE

  1. THE PLOUGHSHARE

the sun has gone down and the sky it looks red
down on my soft pillow where i lay my head
when i open my eyes for to see the stars shine
then the thoughts of my true love run into my mind

the sap has gone down and the leaves they do fall
to hedging and ditching our farmers they’ll call
we’ll trim up their hedges and we’ll cut down their wood
and the farmers’ll say that their fires burn good

now hedging being over then sawing draws near
we’ll send for the sawyer the woods for to clear
and after he’s sawed them and tumbled them down
then there he will flaw them on the cold cold ground

when sawing is over then seedtime comes round
our teams are already preparing the ground
then the man with his seed-lip he’ll scatter the corn
and the harrows they will bury it to keep it from harm

now seedtime being over then haying draws near
with our scythes, rakes, and pitch-forks those meadows to clear
we’ll cut down their grass, boys, and carry it away
we’ll first call it green grass and then we will call it hay

when haying is over then harvest draws near
we’ll send for our brewer to brew us strong beer
and in brewing strong beer, boys, we’ll cut down their corn
and we’ll take it to the barn, boys, to keep it from harm

now harvest being over bad weather comes on
we’ll send for the thresher to thresh out our corn
his hand-staff he’ll handle, his swingel he’ll swing
till the very next harvest we’ll all meet again

now since we have brought this so cheerfully around
we’ll send for the jolly ploughman to plough up the ground
see the boy with his whip and the man to his plough
here’s a health to the jolly ploughmen that plough up the ground

O GOOD ALE

  1. O GOOD ALE

it is of good ale to you i’ll sing
and to good ale i’ll always cling
i like my mug filled to the brim
and i’ll drink all you’d like to bring

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

it’s you that makes my friends my foes
and you that makes me wear old clothes
but since you come so near my nose
well it’s up you comes and down you goes

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

it is you that helps me with my work
and from a task i’ll never shirk
while i can get a good home-brew
and better than one pint i like two

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

i loves you in the early morn
daylight dusk or dark or dawn
and when i’m weary worn or spent
i turn the tap and ease the vent

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

the landlord he looks very big
with his high cock’d hat and his powder’d wig
methinks he looks both fair and fat
but he may thank you and me for that

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

the brewer brew’d thee in his pan
the tapster draws thee in his can
now i with thee will play my part
and lodge thee next unto my heart

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy both night and morning

you have caused me debts and i’ve often swore
that i would drink strong ale no more
but you for all that i forgive
and i’ll drink strong ale just as long as i live

o good ale, thou art my darling
thou art my joy

both night and morning

  1. O BUENA CERVEZA

pero como te acercas tanto a mi nariz;

y te alojaré junto a mi corazón

me has causado deudas y a menudo he jurado

AS I WALKED OUT

  1. AS I WALKED OUT

as i walked out one may morning down by a riverside
i gazed all around me when an irish girl i spied
so red and rosy were her cheeks and coal-black was her hair
and costly was the robe of gold this irish girl did wear

her shoes were made of spanish leather all sprinkled up with dew
she wrung her hands she tore her hair crying, oh, what shall i do?
i’m a-going home, i’m a-going home, i’m a-going home, said she
how can i go a-roving and slight my own johnny?

i wish i was a butterfly, i would fly to my love’s breast
and if i were a linnet i would sing my love to rest
and if i was a nightingale i would sing till the morning clear
i’d sit and sing to you, polly, for once i loved you dear

i wish i was a red rose bud that in the garden grew
and if i was that gardener to my love i would prove true
there is not one month throughout the year my love would i renew
with flowers three i’d garnish thee, sweet william, thyme and rue

i wish i was in dublin town, a-romping on the grass
with a bottle of whisky in my hand and on my knee a lass
i’d call for liquor merrily i’d spend my money free
with a rant and roar all along the shore let the winds blow high or low

let’s go

one night as i lay on my bed so sick and bad was i
i call-ed for a napikin all around my head to tie
but there’s many a man as bad as me so why should i complain?
for love it is a funny thing, did you ever feel the pain?

  1. MIENTRAS CAMINABA

me vuelvo a casa, me vuelvo a casa, me vuelvo a casa, dijo ella

THE BROOMSFIELD HILL

  1. THE BROOMSFIELD HILL

a wager, a wager with you, my pretty maid
here’s five hundred pound to your ten
that a maid you shall go to yon merry green broom
but a maid you shall no more return

but a maid you shall no more return

a wager, a wager with you, kind sir
with your five hundred pound to my ten
that a maid i will go to yon merry green broom
and a maid i will boldly return, turn, turn

and a maid i will boldly return

now when that she came to this merry green broom
found her true love was fast in a sleep
with a fine finished rose, and a new suit of clothes
and a bunch of green broom at his feet

and a bunch of green broom at his feet

then three time she went from the crown of his head
and three times from the sole of his feet
and three times she kissed his red rosy cheeks
as he lay fast in a sleep

as he lay fast in a sleep

she took a gold ring from off of her hand
and placed it upon his right thumb
this was to let her true love to know
that she’d been there and now she was gone

that she had been there and was gone

as soon as he had awoke from his sleep
found his true love had been there and gone
it was then he remembered upon the cost
when he thought of the wager he’d lost

when he thought of the wager he’d lost

three times he called for his horse and his man
the horse he’d once bought so dear
saying: why didn’t you wake me out of my sleep
when my lady, my true love, was here?

when my lady, my true love, was here?

three times, master, did i call unto you
and three times did i blow with my horn
but out of your sleep you would not awake
till your lady, your true love, was gone, gone, gone

till your lady, your true love, was gone

o had i been awake when my true love was here
of her i would have had my will
and the pretty wild birds in this merry green broom
with her blood they should’ve all had their fill

with her blood they should’ve all had their fill

THRESHING SONG

  1. THRESHING SONG

it’s all very well to have a machine
to thrash your wheat and barley clean
to thrash it and wim it all fit for sale
then go off to market so brisk and well

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

the man who made her he made her so well
he made every cog and wheel to tell
while the big wheel runs the little one hums
and the feeder he sits above the drums

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
and make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

there’s old father howard the sheaves to put
while old mother howard she does make up
and mary she sits and feeds all day
while johnny he carries the straw away

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

at seven o’clock we do begin
and we generally stop about nine or ten
to have our beer and oil her up
then away we go till one o’clock

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

then after a bite and a drink all round
the driver he climbs to his box again
with his long whip he shouts, all right
and he drives them round till five at night

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
and make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

singing rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

rumble-tum-dairy, flare up old mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
make her old table shine

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
y haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, enciende a mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, enciende a mary

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
y haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille

cantando rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille
rumble-tum-dairy, flare up mary
haz que su vieja mesa brille

DRIFT AWAY

DRIFT AWAY

as i drift away
through the morning
like the day
there is nothing
in my heart
to say

as i walk away
like the river
from the rain
is there nothing
in your heart
to say?

i’m climbing up the mountains
i’m swimming in the fountains
i’m dancing in the buildings
i’m feeling like a million

i’m walking through the valleys
i’m laughing in the alleys
i’m burning all the bridges
i’m emptying the fridges

i’m selling all the money
i’m mummified in honey
i’m all in with the feeling
i’m falling through the ceiling

i swear allegiance to the king of the forest
i swear allegiance to the queen of the bees
i swear allegiance to the masked-up mothers
i swear allegiance to the man on his knees
i swear allegiance to the sun and the moon
i swear allegiance to the wooden spoon
i swear allegiance to the song of the child
i swear allegiance to the life that’s wild

as i disappear
like the mountains in the air
is there nothing in your heart to say?

as i fade away like the forest in the haze
there is nothing in my heart to say

ME ALEJO

mientras me alejo
por la mañana
como el día
no hay nada
en mi corazón
que decir

mientras me alejo

yo, me iré mucho tiempo y después volveré

SILVER TREE

SILVER TREE

when i wake up in the morning
and the world outside is forming
and the birds are in the silver tree
o well i take a look around
i see the clouds, i see the ground
i see the shimmer of reality

i see you shining like a spark
i see you shaking off the dark
i see you talking with your enemy
i know the world has been forgiven
i know that evil has been driven
far away and left us free

sunshine.

o well i hear the birdsong singing
like a telephone that’s ringing
like the forest and the sun are calling me
and so i lean into the rays
and i accept the million ways
and i listen to the warmth in me

sunshine on me.

and so i wake up in the morning
while the world is busy forming
and the bird is in the silver tree
and i accept the million ways
and so i lean into the days
and i listen to the warmth in me

sunshine on me.

THE LIVING SUNN

THE LIVING SUNN

set the night on fire like the living sun
preach me desire, put it on my tongue
i’ll find my way, i’ll find my way
i’ll find my way on the run

knead me with your fingers and with your thumb
breathe me with your lips and with your lung
give me this day my daily bread
i can feel your brain inside my head

see the midnight moon come make a move
see the midnight moonlight shining through
i’ll find my way, i’ll find my way
i’ll find a way over you / back to you

O SOL VIVENTE

prinde a noite como o sol vivente
predícame o desexo, pono na miña lingua
atoparei o meu camiño, atoparei o meu camiño
atoparei o meu camiño correndo

amásame cos teus dedos e co teu polgar

bailan, noche desnuda
fuego y sudor
hasta que salga el sol
hasta que salga el sol

oooh,
y aunque el tiempo amenaza
y chille el horrror
no nos paraliza, no
e entonan canciónes
que les hermanan
bajo la luna
bajo la luna
que les sonrió

y bailan bajo la luna
que presenció
como se juraron amor
bailan, noche desnuda
fuego y sudor
hasta que salga el sol
hasta que salga el sol

y bailan bajo la luna
que presenció
como se juraron amor
bailan, noche desnuda
fuego y sudor
hasta que salga el sol
hasta que salga el sol

NAKED NIGHT

once upon a night of moonlight and salt, and salt
they dance with one jump forwards and then two steps backwards
they dream that their love will awaken them in a better place
they toast by the fire, barefoot
to the rhythm of wine and song

shadows slip away to caress their skin
winds wrap their voices in the scent of honey
they leap over the bonfire to forget and burn
they tread upon the earth that will break open
and swallow up the past

and they dance beneath the moon
which witnessed
how they swore their love
they dance, naked night
fire and sweat
until the rising of the sun
until the rising of the sun

they move their bodies to the rhythm of the inner sun
they dream that a better tomorrow is being forged in the night
they seek their own way of being and living
they raise a toast, keeping the flame alight
to the rhythm of wine and song

and they dance beneath the moon
which witnessed
how they swore their love
they dance, naked night
fire and sweat
until the rising of the sun
until the rising of the sun

oooh,
and though time looms menacingly
and horror screams,
it does not paralyse us, no
they sing songs
that unite them
under the moon
under the moon
that smiled upon them

and they dance beneath the moon
which witnessed
how they swore their love
they dance, naked night
fire and sweat
until the rising of the sun
until the rising of the sun

and they dance beneath the moon
which witnessed
how they swore their love
they dance, naked night
fire and sweat
until the rising of the sun
until the rising of the sun

YYBB

YIN YANG BABY

she’s my yinyang baby
i like it like that
she’s my yinyang baby
white in the black

she takes her time
everything takes some time
she takes her space
everything takes some space

she’s my yinyang baby
she don’t plot she just reacts
she’s my yinyang baby
she never needs and never lacks

=============

she’s the white in the black
and the black in the white
she’s the bright in the night
and the dark in the light

she’s the stillness of time
and she’s the river of life
she’s a freezing of fire
she’s the burning of ice

=============

she the rain in the wind
she’s the wind in the rain
she will never be changed
yet she is never the same

she’s the sun and the moon
and the cold afternoon
and the soft morning warm
and the sea and the storm

=============

she’s the crack in the cup
she’s the stream in the rut
she’s the root in the dirt
and the blood in the earth

she’s the splash of the wave
she’s the ash of the flame
and the axe in the trunk
she is never the same

=============

she’s the force in the meek
she’s the knowledge through pain
she’s the joy in the job
she’s uniquely the same

she’s the weak in the strong
she’s the silence in song
she has never been stopped
she has never begun

=============

she’s the sword in the lake
she’s the frost on the tree
she’s the dust in the gust
she’s the steam in the breeze

she’s the fork in the road
she’s the knife in the bread
she is death after life
she is life after death

=============

she’s my yinyang baby
going forward going back
she’s my yinyang baby
going down that country track

BEBE YIN YANG

es mi bebé yinyang
me gusta así
es mi bebé yinyang
lo blanco en lo negro

se toma su tiempo
todo lleva su tiempo
se toma su espacio
todo toma su espacio

es mi bebé yinyang
no trama nada, solo reacciona
es mi bebé yinyang
nunca necesita nada y nunca le falta nada

=============

es el blanco en el negro
y el negro en el blanco
es la luz en la noche
y la oscuridad en la luz

es la quietud del tiempo
y es el río de la vida
es el fuego congelado
es el hielo ardiente

=============

es la lluvia en el viento
es el viento en la lluvia
ella nunca cambiará
y, sin embargo, nunca es la misma

es el sol y la luna
y la fría tarde
y la suave y cálida mañana
y el mar y la tormenta

=============

es la grieta en la taza
es el arroyo en el surco
es la raíz en la tierra
y la sangre en el suelo

es el salpicón de la ola
es la ceniza de la llama
y el hacha en el tronco
nunca es la misma

=============

=============

es la espada en el lago,
es la escarcha en el árbol,
es el polvo en la ráfaga,
es el vapor en la brisa.

es la bifurcación en el camino,
es el cuchillo en el pan,
es la muerte tras la vida,
es la vida tras la muerte.

=============

ella es mi nena yín-yáng
avanzando, retrocediendo
ella es mi nena yín-yáng
bajando por ese camino rural

AYY lunita

AYY LUNITA

tu cara nueva
entre los vientos
es un espejo
de movimientos

y te proyecto
mis emociones
y te defiendes
con amor…

ayy lunita
caminando en tu nube
ayy lunita
y la marea sube

yo soy la tierra
te doy mi sombra
y las estrellas
son tu alfombra

y de tus ojos
lanzas espadas
que atraviesan
mi corazón…

ayy lunita
flotando en tus nubes
ayy lunita
con la marea subes

OH LITTLE MOON

your new face
amidst the winds
is a mirror
of movements

and i project
my emotions onto you
and you defend yourself
with love…

oh little moon
travelling on your cloud
oh little moon
and the tide is rising

i am the earth
i give you my shadow
and the stars
are your carpet

and from your eyes
you hurl swords
that pierce
my heart…

oh little moon
floating on your clouds
oh little moon
you rise with the tide

ouse blues

OUSE BLUES

well i walked on up the river where the lady poet died
she’d dug stones into her pockets and she’d drownded her demise
they found her soggy body wrapped up in soggy clothes
she’d been taken up and broken in and turned out by the tide

two thousand years since jesus the seasons acted strange
the rain came down in hatfulls and it landed on the plains
the air so thick with water that the frogs could learn to fly
they swam the clouds all morning then they dropped out of the sky

the townsfolk they were shaken up they quick forgot their ills
they packed up their possessions and made off to the hills
in all their lowing lifetimes the cows never learnt to swim
they just floated on their backs untill their soured milk turned in

well the rains came down and the floods came up
and the whole darn town was in disrupt-
the great floods they were tragic, the situation severe
the ouse river she ran off with near all the brewery’s beer

the roads were paved with water it was knocking at the door
people boarded dinghys and floated up off the floor
guess we’ll leave the lowlands somehow and somewhen but now i’m
stuck down in lewesiana with the ouse blues again

las carreteras estaban inundadas, el agua llamaba a la puerta;

immigrant

IMMIGRANT

far away on another continent
she looked up at the stars
hand on her heart, she said:
god knows another one
with a head on her shoulders on the land

she was born of old world immigrants
outside of the law
if you can call that a law, they said:
here comes another one
with fists like potatoes on the land

spinning things and twisting things and rolling things and shouting
into the wind.. into the fields..
lifting things and gripping things and hauling things and rolling
into the wind.. into the mountains..

long ago, in a distant episode
she held on to her son
against her bosom, she said:
god knows another one
with his head in his hands upon the land

on the real, when history pulls itself
through your dna
there is nothing to say, except for:
here stands another one
mourning the evening on the land

spinning things and twisting things and rolling things and shouting
into the wind.. into the fields..
lifting things and gripping things and hauling things and rolling
into the wind.. into the mountains..

INMIGRANTE

girando cosas, retorciendo cosas, rodando cosas y gritando
hacia el viento… hacia los campos…
levantando cosas, agarrando cosas, arrastrando cosas y rodando

girando cosas, retorciendo cosas, rodando cosas y gritando
hacia el viento… hacia los campos…
levantando cosas, agarrando cosas, arrastrando cosas y rodando
hacia el viento… hacia las montañas…

accepter

ACCEPTER

in the garden of the setting sun
where the embers of the flowers burn
the music plays – and moves the shade
and moves the waves of the river on his morning run

i accept that i’m an angry one
i accept i love my misery
i accept that i have fear of fear
i accept that i’m afraid of loving me

ACEPTADOR

in the garden of the trees
with the breeze dancing amongst them
the colours – the scents
of the flowers that sing when you see them

i accept my tears
and the burning of my pages
my sorrows – and my loves
and the tower of my life that i left behind

blisters

BLISTERS

i got blisters on my fingers
i got stories on my skin
i got footsteps on my pillow
o’ where i been, o’ where i been

i got scabies on my elbows
i got scriptures in my chin
i got pictures in my pockets
o’ what i seen, o’ what i seen

i got twilight in my eyesight
i got systems to begin
i got pistols in my fistholes
let me in, let me in

AMPOLLAS

tengo ampollas en los dedos
tengo historias en la piel
tengo huellas en la almohada
de dónde he estado, de dónde he estado

dejadme entrar, dejadme entrar

broken

BROKEN

there are many people here
waiting around to disappear
right now we can see you clear
but every day you live closer to the fear that
you will lose your memories
movement and cognitive abilities
imagination and communication
no words spoken; you’ll be croakin’
how do you want us to treat you,
when you’re broken, broken, broken?

do you want to be treated right?
the way you treat your elders, right?
or do you want to be adored
by a robot at your door?
what do you want to live like
when you’re broken, broken, broken?

when your lover is in your arms
and nothing in the world can cause you harm
then she gets up in a cloud of smoke
and leaves you broken with the door wide open
how will you perceive me
when i’m broken, broken, broken

ROTO

hay mucha gente aquí
esperando a desaparecer.
perder tus recuerdos,
tu movilidad y tus capacidades cognitivas,

¿cómo me percibirás
cuando esté roto, roto, roto?

caffeine head

CAFFEINE HEAD

as i went walking one night to the graveyard
i met an old caffeine head walking my way
i told him quite gently but with undue emotion
i will boulder on through him and leave him to lay
he screamed at me slowly for fifteen long minutes
i stood there and bore it, my eyes on his shoe
he screamed of the mischief, the sadness and spirit
i re-plied at random, then bouldered on through

ADICTO A LA CAFEÍNA

una noche, mientras caminaba hacia el cementerio,
me crucé con un viejo adicto a la cafeína que venía en mi misma dirección;
que iba a seguir mi camino sin detenerme y que lo dejaría allí tumbado;

holiday

HOLIDAY

in the morning, i jump out of bed
it’s a funny time for me
break the brand new day across my chest
jingle the bell for a cup of tea

i lay back and read some of a book
turn the pages lazily
listen to the song i want to hear
go about my tea with care

by the lunch hour i have sat around
little journeys here and there
food is made with plenty left to share
wine and other good things too

what a pleasant time of year, by jove
the sky is singing out for me
little marbles rolling on the floor
we are losing them with glee

o what a lovely day
what a lovely day it is today
the ending of the world
has been postponed again

o what a lovely war
what a lovely war today
what a lovely smell
smell of firecrackers in the hay

we are rolling marbles on the floor
what a harmless game to play
little marbles rolling on the floor
feeling o so marvellous today

VACACIONES

me siento tan maravilloso hoy

i fell in love with your name

I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOUR NAME

why did you ignore me?
why didn’t you get back with me
after your valentine left you?
i was there, just around the corner, yeah
don’t you remember the sex?
we only made love a couple of times
we connected many times
naked in the bed, we fucked all winter through the night
untill morning, untill spring – then again
then i would hop into my long johns
and you would put the coffee on the stove
and i would skip home
coughing and spitting up my pneumonia
and i never knew what you would do
i was in love with you
i was in love with your name
it rang like circus bells in the rain
and ran like red and yellow trains
in the tunnels of my mind
and your tiny mouth and your big long cheeks
and your tiny crooked tiny teeth,
and your big brown eyes and long brown hair,
and your childbearing waistline
yes and i fell in love with your name

después me ponía mis calzoncillos largos
y tú ponías el café al fuego
y yo volvía a casa saltando
y tu pequeña boca y tus mejillas largas
y tus diminutos dientes torcidos,
y tus grandes ojos marrones y tu largo pelo castaño,
y tu cintura maternal
sí, y me enamoré de tu nombre

they live

THEY LIVE

have you seen the million billion
people walking in and out of
buildings covering almost every
happy scrap of this here land?

you can see them looking in and
out of all windows as they
finish up their menial tasks
with their tiny little hands

organising their possessions
fixing up some food to eat and
sweeping up and washing up
and settling sideways into beds

\
they live there
i never put them there
i didn’t tie them down
to the kitchen chair
they live there…
/

have you seen the tower blocks that
hover over parking lots and
dominate the outer skirts of
almost every city everywhere?

buildings filled with countless folk
old and young who shout and joke
and crowd around in corridors and
very often use the doors

sandwiched into boxes with their
angry little gadgets that they’re
turning off and on and off and on
with despair

\
they live there
i never put them there
i didn’t tie them down
to the kitchen chair
they live there…
/

have you been to villages
sat around on mountain sides or
settled by the waters bringing
winds that blow and billow curtains

all around are glowing fields of
crops and plants that grow and dance
and animals domesticated
dying for the cause

and there are people getting fed and
going on the internet and
talking to their neighbours while they
watch their washing dry

\
they live there
i never put them there
i didn’t tie them down
to the kitchen chair
they live there…

barriendo y fregando,
y acomodándose de costado en sus cam

\
viven allí
yo nunca los puse allí
no los até
a la silla de la cocina
viven allí…
/

¿has visto los bloques de pisos que
se alzan sobre los aparcamientos y
dominan las afueras de
casi todas las ciudades del mundo?

edificios llenos de gente innumerable,
jóvenes y mayores que gritan y bromean,
se agolpan en los pasillos y
utilizan las puertas con mucha frecuencia

apretujados en cajas con sus
pequeños aparatos enfadados que
encienden y apagan, encienden y apagan
con desesperación

\
viven allí
yo nunca los puse allí
no los até
a la silla de la cocina
viven allí…
/

¿has estado en pueblos
encaramados en laderas de montaña o
asentados junto a las aguas que traen
vientos que soplan y agitan las cortinas?

a su alrededor hay campos resplandecientes de
cultivos y plantas que crecen y bailan,
y animales domesticados
que mueren por la causa.

y hay gente que come,
navega por internet y
habla con sus vecinos mientras
ven cómo se seca la ropa.

\
viven allí
yo nunca los puse allí
yo no los até
a la silla de la cocina
viven allí…

become

BECOME

i was reading a so-called book
the words were strange hard to look at
i closed my eyes for to better see
then the prophecy was revealed to me
it said “become”

i was walking down misery lane
melancholic avenue in the rain
i saw a man with an umbrella
i said throw that shit in the swirling river
i said “become”

i. walked. to the city. lake
to see the smiling seagulls on their break
from the cold hard winds of siberia
the prophets are liveth in the area
they say “become”

a missing legged wise one beckoned me
with the tip of his wing then threatened me
get off the boat, get off the main road
then he leapt to the air like at brighton and hove
screaming “become”

what do you wait for, what do you wait for?

¿a qué esperas, a qué esperas?

o paris town

O PARIS TOWN

i went down to paris town to see the eiffel tower
everyone was speaking french in all its mighty power
i walked around beside my love, burning like a fire
she turned her lovely face from mine and pointed at the spire

o metal spire of twist and wrought
and hammered and pinned to the ground;
why do you pierce my sky my sight my sun my heart my town?
why do you pierce my sky my sight my sun my heart my town?

i went with some good french friends on down to brittany
dodging spells of dark magic we drove most rapidly
and soup and bread and wine and cheese and mussels and clams and snails
i sank from me into the sea and blew smoke at the sails

o smokey sails o choppy sea
o bread o soup o wine
i thank the land for all i’ve got
and all i’ve left behind

martillada y clavada al suelo;
¿por qué traspasas mi cielo, mi vista, mi sol, mi corazón, mi ciudad?
¿por qué traspasas mi cielo, mi vista, mi sol, mi corazón, mi ciudad?

me fui con unos buenos amigos franceses a bretaña
esquivando hechizos de magia negra, condujimos a toda velocidad
y sopa, pan, vino, queso, mejillones, almejas y caracoles

oh, velas humeantes, oh, mar agitado
oh, pan, oh, sopa, oh, vino

the dragon

THE DRAGON

in a time as white as mist
in a night as black as witch
among mounds of frozen sound
and smells of hungry stone

a butterfly wind is blowing
across the moors and dales
the startled beasts are lowing
as the yellow daylight pales

a hero appears like a melody
all hair and beard and eyes
a cloak of flowing oxen
and a sword of wolf and ice

through fields of breaking glass
on a horse of vapourwave
a fearsome sky bequeaths him
a mountain covered cave

he squints into the hurry
a lizards scuttles in
we are the rocks and boulders
that roll across its skin

he hears a shattered cauldron
he sees a flash of pain
he tastes a reddish sound
of reddened rusty rain

his tepid footsteps linger
as he plunges through the black
coaxing on intelligence
to luminate the track

tearing through a chapter
we come across a dream
he tells us of an answer
and asks us what it means

a ruby eye awaits us
a 100 meter tail
a tear of sad and fury
dives off like a whale

we anchor him to torchlight
and fix him with a drink
we cut apart the darkness
and into it we sink

the hero runs in silence
as a trembling roar appears
an orchestra of kerosene
is burning through our ears

he makes it to the belly
of the monster’s hungry build
he slices with his wolf ice
untill it dances killed

magical dragon guts
tumble down like honey
spells are breaking and wafting away
he gathers them like money

he whistles for his vapour
and signals to the dream
the dream is crying softly
this is not what i mean!

hush thou thoughtless answer
and your crocodile lagoon
aid me fill my satchels
and i’ll ride by light of moon

he rode as fast as lightning
and didn’t pause for rest
his horse of vapour hacked
his spit was flecked with red

through dystopic redmoon landscapes
and diplomatic tension
mountain wolves a-sleeping
and trees that turnt to watch them

he found his cradled hometown
down in some valley
his people crowded round
they asked him what hell happened

he told them of the monster
the one with ruby eye
he shewed them how he’d swung his sword
and they were horrified

you killed our god our igor?
our gentle totem giant
that precious flying culture
who wouldn’t hurt an ant

the protector of our future
our people and our land
since time immemorial
hatched when stars were sand

his hair and beard grew righteous
he shout and stampt around
his finger quivered in the air
he stabbed his wolf ice down

but look at all this wealth i scooped
from inside of its belly
he unbuckled his satchel
and saw a hard black jelly

ech! he cried and jumped a-back
and dropped it to the ground
the spells have spilled into their real
and on the streets of town

the villagers start to cry
an old person dies
dragon guts so magical
covered up in flies

entrecerra los ojos ante la ráfaga;
una lagartija se cuela corriendo;

silencia tu respuesta desconsiderada
y tu laguna de cocodrilos
ayúdame a llenar mis alforjas

allá abajo, en algún valle;
su gente se congregó a su alrededor
y le preguntaron qué demonios había pasado.

les habló del monstruo,
aquel con el ojo de rubí;
les mostró cómo había blandido su espada
y se quedaron horrorizados.

¿has matado a nuestro dios, a nuestro igor?
¿nuestro gentil gigante tótem,
esa preciosa cultura voladora

su pelo y su barba crecían con fuerza;
gritaba y daba pisotones;
su dedo temblaba en el aire;

o music

O MUSIC

i was walking around today
the streets were cold and grey
i was walking through the trees
building leaping over me
dogs whispered past my feet
cats wrapped around my knees
children grappled for my shoes
immigrants sang the blues

i was walking round today
searching round for some change
the sky was high and blue
the city was like you
many people walking near
my headphones fell out my ears
suddenly i could i hear
suddenly i could i hear

o music, o music
o music, o music

i was looking for a flat to live in
i nearly fell for a scam
i had an interview for a job
but i hate, i hate to have a boss
hustlers on the street
a ladybird fell on my sleeve
a gypsy saw, and offered me
a twig of rosemary

i was walking around today

mucha gente caminaba a mi alrededor,

estafadores en la calle;
una mariquita se posó en mi manga;
una gitana lo vio y me ofreció
una ramita de romero.

hoy estaba dando una vuelta.

TEN thousand star hotel

TEN THOUSAND STAR HOTEL

i sleep in a ten thousand star hotel
i’m drinking water from the sweet water well
nuts and fruit from the buckling tree
i’m as free as a bumbling bee

dock leaf, nettles, mint and clover
fallen apples and a singing toad
beer cans, gravel, bracken and brambles
my little mansion by the side of the road

i’m free
as the wind in the trees
i’m free
as a magical dream
i’m free
as a bubbling stream
i’m free
it’s my economy

i hang pictures of the set and the sunrise
i hang pictures of the animals
i never need to draw my curtains
i’m not constricted by my house’s walls

there’s no need for me to make no decisions
there’s no need to be stuck to my phone
there’s no need to sell me any religion
i’m quite at ease, baby, on my own

I’m free
as the singing breeze
i’m free
as a good night´s sleep
i’m free
as the sound of the sea
i’m free
as a falling tree

soy libre
como la brisa que canta
soy libre
como una buena noche de sueño
soy libre
como el sonido del mar
soy libre
como un árbol que cae
