after studying chinese in london for 4 years i felt oversaturated by mandarin and the mandarins of academia, and i was inspired to get to mexico. i went via denmark, los angeles, up and down the pacific north west with a friend who was working on a cruise ship, back to canada, then down to yucatán. i mostly stayed in the south of mexico and i zigzagged across the mayalands; chiapas, oaxaca, and guatemala. i met friends and met a lover and my parents came out to visit as well.
